Lysthus 129 is a contemporary cottage/ mountain house designed by Ole Petter Wullum for Rindalshytter. In the beginning of 2012 the first cabin was build in Hafjell, Norway and Rindalshytter asked me to make the interior design. I created a look that is based in the Norwegian tradition and natural environment, making it feel warm and comfortable inside, at the same time as you can enjoy the nature through the panoramic windows.

Using wood wall panels is typical for norwegian cottages, especially in the mountains. To give this a modern and contemporary approach we choose a plain and elegant panel on both walls and ceiling. The color is a light brown/grey shade, which makes the atmosphere warm, without feeling dark and heavy.

The open living room has panoramic window on both side so that you always feel at one with nature. To dived this open space into separate areas, we placed a fireplace in the middle, dividing the kitchen and dining zone from the relaxing area with couches and chairs.

To create a contrast to the panel and wood flooring we choose Melis, a minimalistic and elegant kitchen from Sigdal. The black and white colors on the kitchen stands out form the rest of the interior, making it a defined area in the open living room.

For the two bathrooms we chose dark brown tiles to create a warm, cozy and elegant feeling. The main bedroom has a big and beautiful panoramic window, bringing nature directly into the room. To still maintain the warm, indoor feeling we chose a darker tint for the walls, making the contrast between the inside and outside even bigger.

During a weekend in February 2012 I participated in the Global Service Jam in Oslo. This time we had to create a service design based around the topic of hidden secrets. The first day of the jam we had a big brainstorming about the topic and it was interesting to see how people gave different meanings to secrets – everything from objects to personalities and skills. My team ended up creating a sort of old fashioned treasure hunt, just in a modern, secret society way.

The idea was to make a game which helped people discover our city in a new and fun way by creating a treasure hunt that sends you to discover different new places. In order to participate in the game you have to contribute, and after having finished one level, you yourself have to share your favorite (and secret) places from your city. These places can then become tasks for someone else. In this way the game can grow on its own, making it even more surprising, personal and exiting. After having completed 10 levels in your own city you are allowed to continue the game in an other Hidden city in the world.

Just like last time at the Global Sustainability Jam, it was extremely intense, hard work and so much fun at the same time. Even though I was completely exhausted after the weekend I am already exited for the next Jam. A big thanks to my group: Åste Laberg, Susann Johansen, Christian von Hanno, Kristian Bjørnshaug, Naima Zakaria and Maciej Warchal. Also Brock LeMieux and Ingvild Sundby for organizing the jams – you are the best!

In December 2011 I was working on an interior project for Frelsesarmeen (the Norwegian salvation army). The task was to take a small apartment and transform it into a motivational place for recovering drug addicts and criminals. The apartment was to be used for celebration on holidays, educational classes and as a place where they could relax, study or have meetings with counselors.

This was quite a tricky task as I wanted to create a place that gave the users a scenes of value. I often find that in fear of things being stolen or broken, these type of users are given things that are only practical and not aesthetic or valuable. At the same time these type of users do have a certain «style», and since this was their space it could not be to «designed».

The result is a modern and minimalist apartment with black and white as the main colors. It is masculine and rough, but still with a comfortable and soft approach. It plays on geometric shapes. My approach to difficult situations it that humor often helps – so I used humoristic elements to decorate.

The project was based on a low budget and donations, and help form the users themselves. A big thanks to Therese Økland (project leader from Frelsesarmeen) and Tobias A. Heiberg for photos.

"Innovation Award for Universal Design", is an award given by the Norwegian Design Council to the projects within universal design and increased accessibility.

In collaboration with Nina Lysbakken I helped design the concept for the award ceremony. We wanted to create something narrative, multi-sensorial and dramatic. Since the logo for the award is a box , we wanted to play on the mystical and magical part of the it – like “Pandora’s box”.

We ended up building a small box with a lamp inside. It was opened as the final winner was announced, and by the help of reflecting elements inside as well as in the room, smoke and sound effects (by Medvind Productions) the box light the room. Thanks to Racecar, animations “flew” out of the box and on to the screen, making it look like digital confetti from the box.

Global Sustainability Jam is a global event where lots of enthusiastic people all over the world gather to "jam" on sustainable ideas for a better world. During the 48-hour jam in October 2011, I participated in the Norwegian workshop. The assignment was to create something that was both sustainable as well as it had to do with the topic ”playground”.

We quickly divided into a group of 9 people and decided we wanted to create a service that rewarded the walkers, and encouraged them to choose walking over car or taxi, also by night. Walking in the dark, especially in places like a dark ally or a park, (we have called these places blind spots) might feel unsafe and uncomfortable. We designed a service called PopSpots; by the use of your cell phone you can activated your surroundings and make it fun, playful and safe to walk at night. We didn't want to create a system that tells you to be safe, we wanted to create something that made you have fun, and actually forget that you're afraid.

On the team: Nina Lysbakken, Line Barkved, Maciej Warchal, Alexandru Stanoi, Ioana Benjamin, Victoria Utheim, Ann Kathrin Waage, Line With and me, Julia Edin.

Our concept won the Norwegian challenge.

Ringalm Tre AS wanted to inform their clients about the new options for colors on their panels. I created a newsletter showcasing the trend-aspect of their products. The newsletter also «pushed» the existing graphic profile of Ringalm Tre a bit further, making the overall graphic profile more modern and appealing.

Take a look at the newsletter at this link; Ringalm Tre Newsletter no.1

In September 2011 Bydel Bjerke took the stage in the Norwegian Opera with their show called «Crossover». The show which had over 120 artist told the story about the mixing of cultures throughout religion, sex, age and artistic expressions.

I was responsible for the layout and design of the 8 paged brochure/ program that was handed out to all the visitors at the Opera.

Indinarane is a small Norwegian company, producing music for film and television.

Based on their name I developed a small graphical profile and implemented it on a cargo-based website. The main goal was to showcase their videos and music in a simple, elegant way, and to build a stronger identity around their name Indianarane (which means native American).
